Sheffield institution The Black Dog continue their hot streak on Dust Science of late with a companion piece to this summer’s Isolation EP entitled Seclusion. While Ken Downie and the Dust brothers certainly approach similar themes and sonics to its predecessor, the Seclusion EP is an even darker and more haunted listen. The dual beatless bookends ‘Please Stop Talking’ and ‘Dongle’ each toe the line between glacial serenity and the uncanny doom of a darkened nature sprawl, while the title track’s slow-motion drift and buzzing low end brings its own powerful kind of alien unease.
